你好! I’d like to introduce myself to you as 马跃然, which is Göran in Chinese or at least I hope it is. Thank you for inviting me to be here with you today and please accept my congratulations on holding the Fourth Forum for Creative Application of Chinese Domain Names. It is impressive to see so many industry experts gathered at this conference to talk about international domain names or IDNs and universal acceptance.
大家好！首先请允许我做个自我介绍，我的中文名字叫马跃然，或者至少我希望如此。感谢邀请我今天与你们在一起，并请接受我对第四届中文域名创新应用论坛召开的祝贺。让人印象深刻的是，如此多的行业专家齐聚本次会议，讨论国际域名（简称IDN）以及普遍接受。
Your accomplishments of the past few years has been remarkable essential to enabling a multilingual Internet. The Internet continues to evolve. What is fantastic about the Internet is that it's global and connects people around the world. But the real power of the Internet is how we use it to connect locally.

Today there are more than five billion users on the Internet which billions more to come. Yet, there are only one thousand, two hundred and eighty-eight top level domains. And the majority of which are in English. Someone told me there are more than seven thousand languages in the world. And we have an opportunity and responsibility to make the Internet more accessible for more people around the world.
如今互联网上有超过50亿的用户，未来还将有数十亿。然而，目前只有1288个顶级域名，而且大部分都是英语的。有人告诉我世界上有超过7000种语言。我们有机会也有责任让全世界更多的人更轻松地访问互联网。
As President and CEO of ICANN org, my view is also responsibility to enable systems that would make it easier for those people to access the Internet and connect with each other. People should be able to be online using their own language, their own script, their own keyboard, their own story.

In the next coming years, we will again expand the number of TLDs in the DNS. It’s our hope and intention that many of these New TLDs will be in local scripts. Having identifiers, IDNs to be specific, in local languages/scripts creates the potential to bring millions of people to the Internet and allow them to communicate in their native language with family, friends, municipalities, and more.

However, true universal acceptance, we have to make sure that all existing and new domain names work seamlessly in all Internet-enabled applications. And in keeping with ICANN’s remit, we need to coordinate security, stability and resiliency of the DNS and of the Internet, including new names are introduced.

The work done to develop the Label Generation Rules is a key step in this process. I track progress in this areas regularly. China is clearly a leader in making a multilingual Internet into a reality and I thank you for your efforts.

But there is more to do. I encourage you to keep pushing forward. Me and my staff is here to support you directly, and through the many important initiatives taking place for the Universal Acceptance Steering Group. The work you're doing is essential to make the Internet work for everyone, expanding choice and enabling the innovative opportunities we have not even imagined.

In closing, universe acceptance is the key to bring the next billion users online. It’s not only one of my personal pet projects, but also one of the reasons I am actually working for ICANN. It's not only important to me but important to the organization as a whole and the board which is why IDNs and universal acceptance are key areas of focus in the current five-year strategic plan.
